Broad Walk Public Realm Regeneration

Broad Walk is at the heart of Harlow Town Centre, acting as a key connection between the proposed Sustainable Transport Hub and Interchange, The Water Gardens and Harvey Centre.

It will remain as the main high street for the town centre and be home to a variety of retail, leisure and hospitality occupiers.

“A hub of retail and commercial activity with the infrastructure to support traditional markets and street trading, alongside high-quality public realm that encourages investment to improve the retail offer.”

Following funding being secured, the Council, along with architects and consultants have been developing the proposals to ensure Broad Walk, continues to be a hub of retail and commercial activity alongside high-quality public realm that encourages investment to improve the retail offer.

The proposals significantly improve the street scene, with new paving, lighting and street furniture, framed around soft landscaping, adding playful and engaging public spaces.

The layout will retain and increase opportunities for street trading, pop-ups and a range of events and activities, adding to the vibrancy of the retail centre. Shops and services will also be encouraged to provide improved outdoor services and dining.

Harlow Council has appointed Conamar who will be undertaking the construction works on our behalf and works will start late Summer 2024 and complete Spring 2025.

Access to shops and businesses will be maintained at all times during opening hours, however there will be some disruption during the works, with access points changing on a regular basis.
