High quality open, public spaces for everyone to enjoy
The Quarter will remove the existing vehicle dominance to provide high quality, inclusive and accessible open public spaces that support activities of the immediate venues, whilst connecting the existing retail centres - The Water Gardens and Harvey Centre.
The new public space will see:
The introduction of much need green landscaping to soften and help create a gateway destination;
The creation of ‘usable’ outdoor spaces for all assets to expand activities;
A brand new ‘pocket-park’ introducing play within the town centre;
A pedestrian and sustainable mode of transport first approach; with
Continued provision of taxi-rank alongside pick-up / drop-off facilities;
Dedicated disabled bays for new residential, visitors and St Paul’s Church; and
Improved pedestrian connection between The Water Gardens and Harvey Centre.
